Massage and Bodywork CranioSacral Treatment in NJ (New Jersey)

CranioSacral

Description

This treatment focuses on the subtle rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid throughout the craniosacral system, which includes the central nervous system and the delicate membranes that surround it. Craniosacral treatment is aimed at providing release of membrane tensions, fascial restrictions and establishing a balanced craniosacral rhythm. This allows cerebrospinal fluid to flow freely nourishing the brain and spinal cord. Cranial bones, their sutures (where cranial bones meet) and the rest of the body will achieve greater alignment. This gentle treatment, using the amount of pressure equivalent to a nickel in one’s hand, typically starts by palpating craniosacral rhythm at the feet, knees, sacrum, hips, chest, shoulders, throat, and head. Follow-up treatments may involve mouthwork. (Note - this description is not meant for instructional purposes – contact the Upledger Institute for more information at www.upledger.com). This treatment is done while the client remains fully clothed and lying “face up”. No oils or crèmes are used.

Recommended For

This treatment may help with improving balance, allowing for SomatoEmotional Release (SER), reducing symptoms of temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, and in “de-stressing” the Central Nervous System (i.e. helping to overcome a constant “Fight or Flight” stress pattern characteristic of an overactive Sympathetic Nervous System while enouraging the "Rest and Digest" response patterns of the Parasympathetic Nervous System).

Not Recommended For

In rare cases of cerebral hemorrhaging or severe inflammation near the brain, this treatment would be contraindicated. It is best to obtain your physician’s written consent before seeking treatment for a pre-existing or unknown condition. Also see Contraindications.
